Lenten Almsgiving Project

This year our Lenten Almsgiving that starts with Ash Wednesday is for the Jim Luther New Hope Center in Milwaukee (formerly St. Hyacinth Food Pantry).

All their food and services are free. In a community-based, confidential, respectful environment, the Jim Luther New Hope Center seeks to provide nutritionally-sound, short-term relief to families experiencing dire food insecurity while simultaneously assisting these families to achieve long-term food security.

In their food distribution, they serve 4,000 families each year with an emergency short-term supply of food. They also provide hygiene items to these families as often as they can. They must purchase hygiene products at stores because their food suppliers lack free hygiene supplies. We would like to help them supply hygiene products to their families.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, we will have Almsgiving tags printed with specific items or monetary donations in the Narthex for you to pick. You can choose your tag(s) and bring in your donation anytime during Lent.

We will get the donations to the Jim Luther New Hope Center Easter week. They also go through lots of plastic grocery bags, so you are welcome to bring plastic grocery bags that are in good condition.
