Entrance: Open Wide

Timothy Ehlinger © 2022

Verse 1: The dry and barren desert tests the courage of our souls,
As the Spirit call us to surrender up our selfish goals.
Wandering the shifting sands we gather here to pray,
To transform the clutter of our lives that blinds us to Your Way.

WOMEN: O-pen wide our eyes to see.
MEN: Your light in dark-ness.
WOMEN: O-pen wide our ears to hear.
MEN: Your voice in silence.
ALL:  Open wide our hearts to know the wonders of Your love.

Verse 2: Midst the silence of the wilderness we yearn to hear your voice.
Yet running from our emptiness, we surround ourselves with noise.
On this quest to drink from Living Waters, help us to reclaim,
Our essence as Your sons and daughters, worthy to be named.

REFRAIN

Verse 3: By clinging to our comfort, we are bound to what we’ve known.
In letting go we liberate the seeds that You have sown.
Planted deep within our hearts, their story to unfold.
New life through death they rise in us, Your promise to behold.

REFRAIN

Chapel Side: As the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress, So are our eyes on the Lord, our God, till God have pity on us.

All Read: Have pity on us, O Lord, have pity on us, for we are more than sated with contempt; our souls are more than sated with the mockery of the arrogant, with the contempt of the proud.

Profession of Faith

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Amen.

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
I can feel his mighty power and his grace.
I can hear the brush of angel’s wings.
I see the glory on each face.
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
