Forever I Will Sing the Goodness of Our God

In singing Psalm 89, the responsorial psalm, we proclaim that the God who has rewarded a woman for showing hospitality to a prophet is the same God who shows faithfulness and offers salvation to Israel for “all generations.” In the psalm the church pledges to praise God forever. “Forever” is a lot to promise, but God is faithful first, so the church can fulfill its promise. As we pray this psalm, think of ways God has been good in your life and then give praise and thanksgiving.

I sing your love all my days, O Most Holy,
your faithfulness, from age to age.
I know your love is unending,
your fidelity outlasts the heaven.

Blessed the people who know the joyful shout;
n the light of your countenance, O God, they walk.
At your name they rejoice all the day,
and through your justice they are exalted.

You, our glory and power, favor us with victory,
you, the Holy One of Israel,
our shield, our God, our Ruler.
