Message from Our Parish Director: The Future of Music Ministry at Good Shepherd
A lot has happened over the past three weeks that will bring exciting changes to our music ministry specifically, and to the overall parish generally, for years to come.
Our current Director of Liturgy and Music, Andy Kukec, has announced his retirement to be effective April 9 – Easter Sunday. We thank Andy for all his good work. Though he was with us for a short time, he brought much in new music and new approaches. Please join me in wishing Andy God’s bounteous blessings as he pursues his new stage of life.
In the wake of Andy’s retirement, we have decided to invite someone the community already knows well and highly respects to lead a progressive change. It is my pleasure therefore to announce that Tim Ehlinger will assume a consultant leadership role crafting a new music ministry vision and approach.
Tim brings 32 years of Good Shepherd Music Ministry experience. He also brings decades of professional skills in the field of organizational change. Tim will be applying his experience and skills to emerge leadership within current music groups, invite more in the parish to join the music ministry and invite the community to consider and articulate possibilities for Music Ministry at Good Shepherd. Please join me in welcoming Tim to his new role.
Know that Liturgy Coordinator Judy Zunk and I will work closely with Tim. Know also that the staff is ready to support this new structure. Know that the Personnel Committee has endorsed this approach. Know that both Pastoral and Finance Council will be included in the conversation. To assure a smooth transition, know that liturgies have already been planned for several months ahead.
My dear friends, make no mistake about it, this is an exciting moment in Good Shepherd’s history! This new music ministry structure is but one way we plan to ignite and grow the role of lay leaders and encourage more lay involvement at Good Shepherd Parish.
