Many Walk “Mary’s Way of the Cross”
By Mary Oswald
On March 22, I had the honor of leading Mary’s Way of the Cross. There was a total of 18 women who were a part of this moving rendition of the Stations of the Cross. It was wonderful and incredibly moving to see how each woman brought their own perspective and emotion to their role – whether it was reading a specific station, cantoring, or handing out pamphlets. Without them, this would have not been possible.
I truly hope all of the 100+ who attended had a moving and meaningful experience. We look forward to continuing this new tradition next year. I would also like to thank everyone who reached out and shared their thoughts and feelings about their experience. One person wrote:
We could feel the sacredness of the moment, and also felt the emotion of the readers. This was a lovely way to honor Mary, as well as all women of the parish. It serves us all well to experience any event through the eyes of another. The words, the quiet church, the candlelight, the blue veils, the wonderful readers, the perspective, the music, the women around “the well.” All these things, and more, added to a wonderful service.
