Happy New Year! The New Liturgical Year, That Is!

Although the Jubilee Year of Hope will come to a close in early January 2026, Pope Leo XIV will carry a focus on hope into the future as a way to unite and illuminate our world. “At the darkest point,” he said, in reference to Jesus’s passion, death, and resurrection, “the light is not extinguished. On the contrary, it begins to shine.”

During Advent at Good Shepherd, we look to the light of the Advent wreath to guide our steps. Each week, we light the Advent candles that are placed on the altar platform and in the community. These candles symbolize Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, marking our spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ during the Advent season. The lighting of the candles each week represents the growing light of Christ as Christmas approaches.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this new year with our spirit-filled liturgies and joyful songs.
