Thankful for the King of Us All

Submitted by Ann Castiglione

We are at the Feast of Christ the King of the Universe and days away from Thanksgiving. I believe there is a huge connection between them. We can be thankful for our Christ the King who reached out to, welcomed, and healed Samaritans, women, lepers and tax collectors who were ostracized from the community. He even reached out to the criminal crucified with him. This same King continues to reach out today through Catholic parents who advocate for their children, through Catholic parishes who welcome and support their LGBTQ members, through Catholic clergy who welcome and bless LGBTQ families, and yes, even Pope Leo who has followed the path of Pope Francis who began the conversation. We can even be thankful that our transgender brothers and sisters are now a more visible part of those for whom we advocate for acceptance, respect, equality and love. Thank you, God, for your son, Jesus Christ, King of us all!
