How About a Lenten Addition This Year?

Submitted by Ann Castiglione

We are already at the first Sunday of Lent! Each year we try to make Lent a special time in preparation for the Passion and RESURRECTION. As a child, perhaps we gave up candy or ice cream. As we grew older the things we gave up became more meaningful. This Lent, I would like to invite you not to give up something, but to add something. I invite you to learn something about someone who is very different from yourself; it could be someone homeless, someone other-abled, someone of a different race or ethnicity, OR someone of a different orientation. Many of you are aware that in 2004, I and a group of friends, began the Gay and Straight in Christ ministry. Our goal was, and still is, to learn about other people, to welcome them, to support them and show them our love. I invite you to come meet some of the LGBTQ+ community. If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I invite you to come meet those of us who are allies! All people need love and support. We gather next on Sunday March 8 at 7:00 PM in the Mary of Magdala chapel. Come join us. Perhaps this Lent God will expand your heart in a way you did not expect.
