Make Disciples of ALL

Submitted by Ann Castiglione

Today we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord; the day Jesus went to heaven with the promise he would be with us always. In today’s gospel from Matthew, Jesus commissioned his apostles to “go therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” This is a pretty clear statement, not some nations, or some people, or only people with whom we agree. It clearly says ALL nations. Jesus spoke to, and more importantly healed, people who were on the margins. He is commissioning us to do the same. In this time of spring, a time of renewal and hope, it is my hope that all LGBTQ+ people have renewed hope that they can claim their place as disciples of Christ in our Catholic church. It is my hope that they will know that Jesus is with them always. It is my prayer that Good Shepherd in Menomonee Falls will continue to spread that support, encouragement, LOVE AND HOPE.
