Our Help Comes from You, O God, Who Made Heaven and Earth
It is a belief that Psalm 121 is a blessing prayer for pilgrims as they return home from Jerusalem. We are a pilgrim church. After our celebrations, the community is sent forth to love and serve God in all we do and say. And God is ever watchful, never sleeping, always guarding, always near.
If I look to the mountains, will they come to my aid?
My help comes from you, O God, who made heaven and earth.
May God, ever wakeful, keep you from stumbling;
the guardian of Israel neither rests nor sleeps.
God shields you, a protector by your side.
The sun shall not harm you by day nor the moon at night.
God shelters you from evil, securing your life.
God watches over you near and far, now and always.
