Process of Canonization Begins for El Salvador Martyrs

Most Rev. José Luis Escobar Alas, Archbishop of San Salvador, has announced that the El Salvador bishops’ conference has initiated proceedings for the canonization of the six Jesuit priests, their housekeeper, and her daughter who were murdered at the University of Central America in 1989 and the four US churchwomen murdered in 1980, along with many others who died in the civil war. Members of Good Shepherd and St. James who have visited our twin community, Ellacuria, have had the privilege of visiting the sites of their martyrdom and their graves. Our October delegation will do the same. Please pray for their canonization and for the people of Ellacuria, El Salvador and all of Central America.
