Jesus in Our Struggles

Submitted by Ann Castiglione

I am a Roman Catholic and I love being a Roman Catholic, but sometimes I am disappointed….

A recent article by Fr. James Martin provides thoughts for times when we are disappointed with something our Church says or does or does not do. At one time or another, we all are. We feel like the people, who right after being fed by the miracle of the loaves and fishes, ask Jesus for another sign. They say, “It’s not enough, Jesus, do another one!” Jesus tells them, “I am the Bread of Life.” To quote Fr. Martin, “It sounds nice but a bit abstract.” Then Fr. Martin gives us three ways to get through those times:

~ Go to Jesus in Scripture. Remember you are reading a story about the risen Christ who is with you!
~ Go to Jesus in prayer. In whatever way you like to pray.
~ Go to Jesus in the community. Seek him alive and active in the body of Christ.

Jesus is with each of us through everything – even our struggles with the church – go to Jesus.
