St. Elizabeth Seton Parish has an active group committed to welcoming refugees to southeastern Wisconsin and assisting in settling them. They help locate housing, and household needs. They explain how systems (like education) work in the United States and help new families through the processes. By doing so, they gain new friends and enlarge their perspectives. One group member reported how federal funding cuts have affected their work: “The agencies we work with have been hit hard, with loss of funding. So that puts a greater need on the shoulders of our committee. We try to fill the gaps. Families who came in January have lost their funding and are left on their own. We do a lot of work with Hanan Refugees Relief Group. Donations can be made to them on their website: https://hananrrg.org/
Donations can also be made to the Elizabeth Ann Seton Migrant Ministry by sending a check or direct deposit to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, with a notation to Migrant Ministry Committee”. Hanan is also looking for volunteers, apply at their website.
