Wednesdays In September:
Conversations in the Spirit

What are ways we can build up our community of faith in addition to communicating with one another more effectively?

Following the worldwide Synod on Synodality that has been happening in the church the past few years and concludes in Rome this October, we’re inviting you to participate in synod sessions during September to explore a variety of questions about our own community at Good Shepherd. We’ll be having a light meal, and “Conversations in the Spirit” discussions around the table and larger group feedback on September 4,11,18 and 25. You can come to one of these sessions or all.

Here is something that describes synod: “The word “synod” may be new to many Catholics, but the reality described by it has been part of the life of the Church since Apostolic Times. “Synod” comes from two Greek words meaning, “walking together.” A synod is an ecclesial gathering with the goal of discerning what the Holy Spirit is asking of the Church at the time.

“A synodal church is a church that practices synodality, which means discerning together where the Holy Spirit is leading us. A synod is a meeting or assembly of church leaders, and sometimes other baptized members, to discuss and decide on matters of faith and mission.” [Taken from www.catholicproject.catholic.edu/synodality]

Stay tuned for more on this exciting opportunity to hang out with each other in conversation!
