Thank You, Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd has always been an open, welcoming, social justice oriented parish. Thank you, Good Shepherd! Since Gay and Straight in Christ was founded in 2004, we have been guided and supported by this wonderful, first-class parish. Last month, Good Shepherd continued that support with an outreach donation to Fortunate Families, a national, Catholic LGBTQ+ organization. In 2004 Fortunate Families grew out of Catholic Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry which was founded in 1992 by Casey and Mary Ellen Lopata, parents of a gay son. The Lopatas are founding members of both ministries. Fortunate Families is currently providing a training program for people who will be able to spiritually accompany transgender folks. They have been kind enough to allow our group temporary access to a series of videos for our own education and growth. We have learned so very much and are ever grateful to them.
